After Megan returned to Hogwarts…

She fell apart.

The girl she used to be was now just an empty shell. Megan stopped eating. She stopped walking around. She stopped painting. She stopped attending classes. It was to the point where she passed out from malnutrition.

Megan was currently in the hospital wing, sitting in bed and staring out the window. Madame Promfrey always had to put her to sleep before administering potions that would help her nutrition, otherwise she would reject it.

The light in her eyes went out, now just blank foggy gems. Her expression was one of a broken doll’s.

It was like she had lost the will to live.

Megan nodded. With Camilla’s help, she started towards the room her brother occupied. Before Megan even reached the entrance, a doctor stepped out of the room and noticed the two. “Excuse me,” He started, giving the two a look over. “Can I have your business here?” He asked her.

Megan felt her voice grow smaller within her throat as Camilla jabbed her elbow into her side. “I-I… I’m here to see… my brother…” She croaked out. The Doctor looked less than convinced.

“I’m sorry, miss… but I don’t see anyone listed on here as sister on family.” He told her, flipping open a file. “I’m afraid I’ll have to deny you access.”

“But she’s his sister!” Cam argued. “You can’t deny someone entrance because they’re not on some stupid list! Her parents probably just forgot to add her, that’s all. I mean, their son is in hospital -surely you can forgive them for a small little thing slipping their mind?” She looked up at the doctor with wide innocent eyes.

“Look at her, she’s so worried, you can’t not let her in!”

The doctor shook his head. “I’m sorry, Miss, but if she isn’t on the list then there isn’t anything we can do about it.” He gave her a nod before walking off.

Megan watched as the doctor turned his back to the two girls before going up to the door. Maybe… Maybe if she took a peek and saw that he was okay, then things will be fine. Just a peek.

Her hand reached out to the door, gripping the silver handle tightly before giving it a tug.

It was locked. A magical lock was placed upon the door.

They went so far as to lock the door to her own brother’s hospital room. Why would the hospital do this? Why would her parents do this? Why wouldn’t her brother fight for her? Was there anything anyone can do?

Megan found herself frozen, her hand on the knob and the sudden silence deafening.

Her arms were uncrossed and she smiled, soft and sweet. “That they do. And look how that turned out.” She shrugged, proudly. “He’s threw her aside like she hardly mattered. But that hardly matters. What I find more curious is the conversation we had the other day. You remember, don’t you Potter?” She reached for Megan’s hand, hoping her friend would understand that she was doing this for her.

“Something about a certain someone being…what was it? Spineless?” She frowned. “Oh, that’s right. You were talking about Megan! What were the exact words you used? Go on,” she sneered. “Saint Potter,” she snarled. “Entrance us with your wise words, won’t you?”

James glared at the Slytherin. “I never said spineless and you know it. I said she could use some help with courage. And you agreed with me.” he replied, “You mean to tell me that he’s thrown my cousin aside? Is that why he still writes to her? I kinda feel like you’re the one he’s throwing aside Zabini.” James shook his head in frustration, “You’re going to win this little tiff. I know you are. She will always side with you, always. So I don’t even know why you bother fighting with me over her. I’ve told you before that you’ll always win with her because no one will ever come close to you in her eyes. But just so you know, she was happy when she was with me. You need to stop being selfish and let her have happiness outside of you.”

“I’m sorry Megan, I really am. I’m sorry my words have been twisted and manipulated by your friend here. But everything I said to her, I’ve said to you before. You need to stop doubting yourself and just be happy. I understand that, after this, you’ll probably be a lot happier without me. I’m sorry I’ve messed things up by talking to your best friend who hates me and will do anything to see me miserable, including sabotaging my relationship with you. At this point, I know I won’t be forgiven and it’s hopeless for me to try anymore. But I don’t want to give up, I really don’t…”

Megan clenched her fist, feeling the blood dribble from her palm and dripping to the stone ground. She didn’t want to deal with this right now. Camilla said he said that she was spineless. James said that said that she needed help with her courage. Both were right, both were wrong. She needed help with her courage but saying that she was spineless will not help at all.

Megan does not always take Camilla’s side because she is her friend but because she is right most of the time and the things she says make sense. Why was he being so mean to Cam? She just wants whats best for her.

Everyone was twisting words around and no one was being true to her anymore. That’s what it seemed like in her head. No one wants to give up, that’s what they say but in the end they all do. That’s life. That’s her life. We shall be here for you, they say, but where was she right now? She was alone… just alone.

In a school filled with friendly students and kind professors, being with Camilla and even speaking with James and Nate, she felt utterly and completely alone.

Megan opened her palm and looked at her blood stained hand and started drawing a random picture upon her bloody skin. Her mind wandered far away from the current moment. She didn’t want to be involved. She didn’t want to be hated. She just didn’t want to be anything…

Her grip on her friend tightened. “It’ll be okay, I promise, come on Megan,” she said, leading her towards the room. “They can’t turn you away here, come on,” she said with urging words of support.

“You’ll be fine, I’m right here, okay?”

Megan nodded. With Camilla’s help, she started towards the room her brother occupied. Before Megan even reached the entrance, a doctor stepped out of the room and noticed the two. “Excuse me,” He started, giving the two a look over. “Can I have your business here?” He asked her.

Breed Obsession: “Well yeah I’m happy. I’ve gotten to see you.” he replied. James...

“Well yeah I’m happy. I’ve gotten to see you.” he replied. James looked at her and felt like she didn’t want anyone around. “What’s wrong?”

She failed to notice the sincerity in his words. Her nerves were getting the better of her. “I have something important I have to deal with today but it’s…

“Is there anything I can do to make it better?” He questioned. And then he heard another voice. James turned to the other girl, whom he was less than excited to see, and smiled, “Afternoon Camilla. Hope everything is going well for you.”

She crossed her arms over her chest and narrowed her eyes slightly before deciding to play nice. Or at least, nicer.

“Likewise, Potter,” she said. “I have a question however and I’m sure you’ll satisfy my curiosity. What’s something so strong willed and minded doing talking to someone who obviously doesn’t match up to your strengths?”

He raised an eyebrow, “See Camilla, sometimes you talk about the strangest things. I don’t really know what you’re talking about. Even if it was happening, you know opposites attract. Look at your boyfriend and my cousin. Couldn’t be more different. Yet, they both harbor feelings for one another. Hm… Curious.” he shrugged.

Megan felt herself visibly shrunk as James and Camilla started speaking to one another. The tension in the hall grew so thick that if it was possible, she could cut into it with a butter knife. Instead of trying to understand what they were rambling about, Megan start wringing the strap of her bookbag once more.

She released it when she felt a sharp pain shoot through her arm. Glancing down at her hand, she saw that she had rubbed part of her skin to it’s breaking point as blood started to trickle down her palm. Hiding it within clench hands, she tried to make herself invisible as possible. She didn’t need to get into the middle of this.

“Hello?”

“Cam…?” She asked, slowly and hesitantly walked towards her best friend. “I… I think I’m ready to go…”

Cam smiled. “Okay.” She answered softly. “Let’s go.”

Taking a breath, she grabbed her friend’s hand, nodding. “Okay.”

She squeezed her hand supportively. “Come on, Megan, chin up,” she smiled before leading the pair out of the grounds, through the short walk to the gates. Soon, they’d apparated to the St. Mungo’s, their footsteps clicking through the foyer and through the quiet hallways leading the ward the helpful nurse had pointed out.

“Are you okay?”

She felt the pressure that came with apparation, her vision disappearing and reappearing in a blink of an eye.

Megan clutched onto Cam tightly, trying to steady herself. Her head swam and her pulse seemed to be as loud as a beating drum. “I… I hope…”

She clutched her bookbag strap in her hands, wringing it until her palms her red and raw. Anxiety ate at her along with fear and apprehension. She was going to see her brother soon, against the wishes of her former parents. Could she do it? Would she be able to stand the pain that they put her…

“Megan!” James exclaimed as she saw the blonde girl wandering down the corridor. He ran up to her, smiling broadly, “Hey, Megan.” he grinned. “Nice day out, yeah?”

Nice day, he said. How lovely it must be in his world.

“Yeah… nice day,” She repeated, wringing the strap of her book bag even more. “You seem happy.”

“Well yeah I’m happy. I’ve gotten to see you.” he replied. James looked at her and felt like she didn’t want anyone around. “What’s wrong?”

She failed to notice the sincerity in his words. Her nerves were getting the better of her. “I have something important I have to deal with today but it’s eating me up inside…” She shuddered slightly. “It’s… killing me more than it should…”
